Happy Holidays from the Honeybadgers!

I've taken a bit of a hiatus from blogging lately. The busy holiday season has gotten the best of me! We had a lot of fun with the kids, celebrating and watching them have so much fun. They both got more than they would ever need from family and friends. Here are a few photos from Christmas with them.

That special moment when...

You find your toddler crouched down by the cat food, shoveling tiny fistfuls of it into her trick or treat bucket. I'm gonna send this girl to Meow Mix rehab if she doesn't slow down soon.

Here kitty, kitty

Addie is upset because she really wants to feed the kitty by hand, the way she does with the goats at the zoo. But the cat basically told her in no uncertain terms to fuck off. Tears ensued.

It only took 14 months, but...

I *finally* put up some wedding photos. The problem is, I have all these ideas for the walls, but Chris won't help me execute them. He wants me to do it myself, but I get frustrated and give up. I have been eyeing up this pin for about a year:

Finally I bought the frames, selected the pictures and gathered the letters. I decided on (2) 8X10, (4) 5X7 and (4) 4X6. Then came the overwhelming part-placement. So I took out a roll of wrapping paper the width of my wall and taped it design side down on my floor.

Then I played around with placement and rearranged the pictures on the paper until I was happy with how they looked. After that, I traced each photo, marked a spot where the nail should go and wrote on the paper which picture it was. After that, I taped the paper on the wall to figure out how high I wanted the pictures to be.

Then I just pounded the nails right thru the paper and peeled it off. I hung all the photos and used a level to straighten everything. Admittedly, the letters themselves are not the most straight, but I'm happy with them for now. Maybe one day I'll find the motivation to fix them up a little.

The entryway after, I love it!

Halloween Fun

We had so much fun dressing the kids up for Halloween this year! I've known since before Myles was born I was gonna rip off the pinterest idea of having him in his carrier and dressing him up like a bag of popcorn, but I was at a loss when it came to Addie. I wanted to make a costume for her but the only thing I wanted her to be, a crazy cat lady, was vetoed by Chris. In my defense, she really loves cats. A few days before trick or treat, we stopped at Target to see what they had. Selection was pretty limited but Chris and I reluctantly decided to have her be a lady bug. I wasn't thrilled, but it was the least ugly costume on the shelf. And then it happened. Addie spotted a ridiculous unicorn costume and decided she had to have it. This thing was so awkward and strange and actually a little too big for her but she didn't care. She grabbed it off the shelf and carried it to the register herself. She then hugged it the entire ride home. When we got home, she wore it until naptime. At naptime, she slept with it. She LOVED it! So I got my first taste of me not liking something and my reaction directly influencing the love she has for it. She knew I wasn't sold on it. But she did look incredibly adorable in it and got a lot of compliments while out and about.

Of course I waited until the night before trick or treating to start making the popcorn costume. I like to think I work best under pressure, but really I'm just a huge procrastinator. The design was pretty easy, it was just a ton of cutting and gluing. The hat took forever because I had to individually glue on each kernel of popcorn. He stole the show though. He got tons of compliments and stayed warm in his popcorn bag. He looked adorable.

We also worked on a fun ghost craft with their feet in white paint. Addie had fun with that and had a good time 'helping' Myles make his picture too. She's a really good big sister.

I'm already brainstorming costume ideas for next year so we don't get stuck with any awkward unicorns again.

What's for dinner?

You have not lived until you spend part of your night digging alarming amounts of quinoa out of your toddler's belly button.

On the plus side, she seemed to really enjoy tonight's healthy recipe (linked below). So that is a big win for the day!

Spliting Hairs

I've said it before and I'll say it again--trying to put pigtails in a toddler's hair is like wrestling a person on bath salts. Where do they get the superhuman strength from?

So sassy

After giving me a menacing look and refusing to break eye contact, Addie dumped every last bit of parmesan cheese from her plate onto the floor. She then ran to the kitchen, grabbed the broom and dustpan and brought it back to me with a satisfied look on her face.

She's lucky I prayed for inner strength today.

A glass case of emotion

I'm in for a long night: Addie has spent the last hour crying over pictures of Chris, sobbing 'Daddy' over and over again. Poor thing.

This is why we don't have nice things

One way to ensure your DVD collection is completely useless: when your toddler takes them out of their case, puts them facedown on the floor and uses them to skate across the hardwood. The least she could do is use some of daddy's shitty dvds for that.

Tweet Tweet

I just sent my first tweet. Oh Lawd, I have arrived!

Go Pink!

October is breast cancer awareness month. Tell your friends and loved ones. Catch it early!

Myself and the kids decided to dress in pink to support a good friend's mom who is currently battling breast cancer and to spread awareness about the disease. It was tough to get a good pic of us all with the kids being less than cooperative, but I think we nailed it.

My vain badger

Addie has spent a good portion of her morning making me kiss pictures of her. No self esteem issues for her.
